Hobe Sterling Jewelry
Hobe sterling jewelry is pretty rare, as is most jewelry from the 1940s time frame. With the war, the normal jewelry metals were conscripted by the goverment. Therefore, the jewelry manufacturers had to "make do" with sterling silver.
Once the war was over, the pot and base metals were once again used by the costume jewelry manufactuers, and sterling went largely by the wayside. So in general, the use of sterling in costume jewelry indicates it was made in the 1940s time frame -- roughly 1943 through 1948.
One other way to identify if a terling piece is from the 1940s is that usually it does not have a lot of rhinestones. Instead of a plethora of smaller stones, a few larger ones were used. While this isn't cast in stone, rhinestones ceased to be imported from Europe so once again, jewelry manufactuers had to make do with what they had in stoock.

De Lillo Vintage Jewelry
De Lillo vintage jewelry isn't well-known, possibly because they weren't in operation for very long. However, de Lillo costume jewelry is rare and sought-after by saavy collectors.
Years of Operation and Mark
De Lillo operated from the late 1960s through the mid 1970s. (Like I said, they weren't around for very long.)
The mark is "de Lillo" in script.
Buying De Lillo Vintage Jewelry
The rule of thumb is this; if you can find a de Lillo piece in decent shape with a not-too-high price -- grab it! Prices tend to go up for this costume jewelry manufacturer (a good thing). Laguna Vintage Costume Jewelry
Laguna vintage costume jewelry definitely has a "look", and is well known in two areas: pearls and crystals. And with good reason -- they did it well!
Years of Operation and Marks
Laguna has been around for awhile, from around 1944 through roughly the early 1980s. Actually, it's not known exactly when Laguna stopped manufacturing their jewelry.
The marks they used are:
- "Laguna"
- "KJL Laguna"
Obviously, the KJL Laguna mark is rarer and more collectable. (KJL being jewelry great Kenneth J. Lane.)
